Geely offers the Galaxy E5 in five variants at a price ranging from CNY 112,800 (RM 70k) to CNY 148,800 (RM 92k), as reported by CarNewsChina.
Built on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, the Galaxy E5 measures 4615 mm in length, 1901 mm in width, and 1670 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The curb weight is measured at 1615 kg.
The Chinese-spec Galaxy E5 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor tuned to generate a maximum power of 218 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The power is enough to propel the EV from nought to 100 kmph in 6.9 seconds and clock a top speed of 180 kmph.
As for battery options, the Chinese buyers get two lithium iron phosphate battery options - 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, offering a cruising range of 440 km and 530 km (on the CLTC testing standard), respectively.
Notably, the EV incorporates the brand’s 11-in-1 intelligent drive system, which integrates critical components into a compact unit weighing 79.8 kg, streamlining the vehicle's performance and efficiency. It also utilises CTB (cell-to-body) battery integration technology with a 50:50 front-to-rear axle load ratio, which helps in reducing weight, lowering the centre of gravity, and enhancing rigidity.
The Galaxy E5 boasts an impressive drag coefficient of 0.269 Cd with aerodynamic wheels wrapped with 235/50 R19 tyres. Adding to the performance is innovative hidden door handle technology that promises reliable operation even in extreme conditions.
Inside, the Galaxy E5 sports a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, a two-spoke steering wheel, a head-up display, and a floating 15.4-inch central control screen. The latter features a 2.5K resolution and comes paired with China’s Dragon Eagle One 7 nm CPU and Flyme Auto system.
Geely touts that the Galaxy E5 has an impressive interior space of up to 4.03 sq metres, providing ample room for occupants. The EV comes with 33 storage compartments, claimed to be the best in its class. These include additional storage below the rear seats and extra drawers underneath the rear air vents.
Geely offers the EV in eight striking colours - red, pink, grey, green, white, silver, black, and blue.
With the advanced features and cutting-edge technology, the Geely Galaxy E5 sets a high standard in the Chinese EV market. The upcoming Proton e.MAS 7, based on this Geely electric vehicle, is also expected to bring similar high standards of performance, efficiency, and comfort.
