KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s first-ever national EV, the Proton eMAS 7, has finally seen the light of day. This most-awaited electric SUV is a major step towards a sustainable future for the local automotive industry. The Proton EV is packed with tons of advanced technologies and fine-tuned for Malaysian roads. And if we talk about safety, the EV performs quite well.

Prior to its launch, the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries assessed the Proton EV and awarded it a 5-star rating.

In the AOP crash tests, the EV provided good protection to the front dummies with adequate safety in the lower leg section. Along with that, the agency also noted satisfactory performance in the frontal and side-impact collision tests during COP and MS assessments.
ASEAN NCAP recognised the Proton eMAS 7 as the highest-scoring model in the SA category, given the ADAS features are available in all variants.
Well, the credit for this exceptional performance goes to the EV’s robust structural design, comprehensive airbag system, well-packed Aegis Short Blade battery pack with wet-process dual separators, and cutting-edge safety systems.
The Proton e.MAS 7 features a total of six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, a seatbelt reminder system, traction control system, hill hold assist, and active rollover protection.
Adding to that is a full-fledged suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, which is standard across the board, as mentioned above. It includes -
