Proton e.MAS 7 nationwide tour to begin on October 5
KUALA LUMPUR: Proton is geared up to introduce its first-ever electric car, the e.MAS 7, by the end of this year. To build excitement ahead of the launch, the national automaker has officially announced a nationwide Proton e.MAS 7 Tour at its Centre of Excellence (COE).

While details about the Proton e.MAS 7's battery and range are not yet available, the EV’s close relative, the Geely E5, comes with 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh battery packs offering a maximum range of up to 530 km (on the CLTC cycle).The upcoming tour follows the successful E5 Long Test Drive World Tour conducted by its parent company, Geely. It represents the national automaker’s readiness for the competitive electric vehicle space.
The Proton e.MAS 7 is the first electric car from a Malaysian brand, and this tour is the first of its kind on such a large scale. The key highlights of the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour is as follows -
- Set to begin on 5 October 2024, the tour will cover over 2,000 km, offering Malaysians a unique opportunity to experience the e.MAS 7 firsthand.
- It will navigate through diverse terrains and landscapes ranging from coastal roads to mountainous regions while showcasing the EV’s capabilities.
- The journey will cover Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor in the first leg, and then move on to Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan, followed by Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis.
- After covering major regions in Peninsular Malaysia, the tour will head to East Malaysia, starting with Sabah and concluding in Sarawak.

While there are still a few days left in the Proton e.MAS tour, you can catch the preview of the EV at key locations in Putrajaya on 25 September and Shah Alam on 26 September. You can also meet the Pro-Net team and suggest the best pit stops along the journey.
Proton also revealed details of the recently concluded world tour of the Geely E5, which is Proton e.MAS 7's development sibling. The Geely EV covered a distance of around 3,700 km, starting from Guiyang, China, and passing through Xishuangbanna, Laos, and Thailand before arriving in Malaysia. During the tour, the E5 encountered challenging conditions due to Typhoon Yagi and navigated floodwaters and a variety of road conditions without any issues, which showcased how reliable its technology is.

The durability, reliability, and quality of the Galaxy E5 highlight the engineering excellence behind the Proton e.MAS 7—demonstrating how it will be a game-changer for our market,” Zhang Qiang added.
Proton’s plan to boost EV adoption involves building partnerships and sharing knowledge to address industry challenges. The automaker joined hands with Geely to develop the e.MAS 7 incorporates “proven world-first technologies into a sustainable solution tailored specifically for Malaysians.”
