KUALA LUMPUR: As expected, the Proton EV has caused a stir in the Malaysian electric vehicle market, giving the Chinese rivals a tough run for their money. Launched on December 16, the eMAS 7 has grabbed more than 2,500 bookings so far, highlighting the growing enthusiasm of Malaysians towards sustainable mobility.

    What makes the Proton eMAS 7 desirable?

    Well, Malaysia’s first national EV has been attracting attention for its innovation and value. It is offered in two affordable variants- Prime and Premium, packed with tons of modern features, complemented by the enticing launch package and brand legacy. 

    The Proton eMAS 7 Prime is priced at RM 109,800 (RM 105,800 with early bird promo), while the Proton eMAS 7 Premium retails for RM 123,800 (RM 119,800 with early bird promo).

    Both variants are powered by the same 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system, which generates a maximum power of 218 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. As for the battery pack, the EV gets Geely's Aegis "short blade" cells in two different capacities. The base model comes with a 49.52 kWh unit offering a WLTP-claimed range of 345 km, while the top-spec gets a 60.22 kWh unit with a cruising range of 410 km.

    The Proton EV is loaded with a bag full of modern creature comforts, including a 2.5k 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, windshield head-up display, 16-speaker Flyme sound system, fully reclinable front seats, clever storage compartments, and the only-in-class integrated live charging map. The latter is a game-changing feature, allowing EV users to locate the nearest charging stations in real time. It covers 85% of public charging points (over 1700 charging points), including Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Carput Zap, and ChargeSini.

    Interested folks can book the EV at any of the 30 Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide or through the Proton e.MAS website. As for a seamless ownership experience, one can download the Proton e.MAS App, which is now available on app stores.

    The Proton eMAS 7 Launch Power Pack, available for the first 3,000 customers, offers exclusive benefits worth up to RM 8,000 to the buyers. These include -
