Proton e.MAS 7 debuts at Merdeka Parade: Malaysia’s first electric vehicle takes the spotlight

KUALA LUMPUR:  In a proud display of national heritage and technological innovation, PRO-NET, a subsidiary of PROTON, introduced the e.MAS 7 model during the 67th National Day celebrations in Putrajaya.

The event featured a special 25-car contingent, showcasing both current and historic PROTON models, with the e.MAS 7 standing out in a distinctive camouflage design inspired by the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysia's flag.

The e.MAS 7, PROTON’s first electric vehicle, made a significant impact on its first public appearance, drawing enthusiastic reactions from the large crowd gathered for the celebrations. The model had been previewed to the media on August 2nd, setting the stage for its official launch later this year.

Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, expressed his pride in the vehicle’s debut, stating, "I am immensely proud of the Proton e.MAS 7's debut at the Merdeka Day Parade, where it truly captured the hearts and attention of the public. The enthusiastic response from the crowd demonstrated a strong resonance with our vision for sustainable mobility and innovation. The Proton e.MAS 7’s debut wasn’t just about showcasing the vehicle; it also engaged the public through an interactive social media campaign titled "Your Proton e.MAS 7 Dream." Spectators were encouraged to share their thoughts and visions for a sustainable future, reflecting the community's growing excitement and support for PROTON’s move into electric vehicles.

In conjunction with the National Day festivities, PRO-NET launched the Proton e.MAS Merdeka Campaign, giving 15 creative participants the chance to win RM67 in TnG e-Wallet credit.

To enter, participants simply need to follow Proton e.MAS on Facebook or Instagram, engage with the “Your Proton e.MAS 7 Dream” post, and share their most creative completion of the sentence: “Proton e.MAS 7, the first national electric vehicle, is___.” The contest runs from August 31st to September 16th, with winners announced on October 4th via the Proton e.MAS social media channels.
