Proton announces sales performance for September 2019
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian automotive company, Proton has announced its sales performance for September 2019. It has stated that the carmaker has successfully delivered a total of 8,934 units in the month; however, the count for the last month was 9,127 units. The current figures include the vehicles that were both exported and sold domestically, but the Malaysian Automotive Association has not announced the exact figures.
The September 2019 Proton sales figure signifies a 97% rise from the 4,524 units, which was reported in the same month the year before, according to the automaker. It even stated that the significant contributor to the figure is Saga, which has witnessed a sale of whopping 3,994 units. In addition to that, the carmaker claims that this model is currently the best-selling A-segment sedan present in Malaysia as it has crossed over 20,000 bookings at the end of September.
CEO of Proton, Li Chunrong said, “By exceeding our total sales volume in 2018 in just nine months, Proton is on target to achieving its best sales number since 2015. Of even greater significance, though is the Saga’s return to the number one spot in its segment. Despite being launched less than two months ago, the response from Malaysians has been overwhelmingly positive.”
According to the brand, the 8,934 units delivered in September have permitted it to seize a 20.2% market share for the month. Proton has also achieved an estimated 15.8% overall market share from the perspective of year-to-date. The company has successfully sold more cars in the first three quarters of 2019 if compared to that of 2018 as it recorded 70,330 units, which is significantly more than 64,744 units.
