Porsche Supercup completes 30 years, celebrates with a special edition model

KUALA LUMPUR: For those who aren’t into racing series, the Porsche Supercup is a well-known name. It is one of the most popular and toughest customer racing series in the world and this year it has completed 30 years in the field.

Making the 30th anniversary of the series the organisers have introduced a special edition model that took six months to complete. Built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the car is a roadgoing 911 GT3 and is based on the 911 GT3 Cup. It also showcases the attractive 30th-anniversary livery.

Some of the major design highlights of the Porsche Supercup 30th anniversary 911 GT3 edition include -

  • Spectacular eighth-colour paintwork (it is not a wrap)
    Multi-colour pixel mesh design around rear wheel arches
    Anniversary logo
  • Rear bumper with names of 29 previous Porsche Supercup champions painted in gold

  • Number ‘30’ painted in gold and finished in high gloss clear lacquer
  • Embossed anniversary logo on the headrest
  • Black/Aurum centre console & seat piping
  • Mojave Beige coloured door panel stitching

The above-mentioned multi-colour paint work includes the following tones, all of which are painted - Diamond black metallic, GT Silver Metallic, high-gloss Black, Agate Grey Metallic, Parliament Gray Metallic, Grigio Granito Metallic, Meteor Grey Metallic and Volcano Grey Metallic.

The making process involved disassembling and rebuilding a standard Porsche 911 GT3 model with the biggest challenge being the precise application of multi-colour pixel mesh. The car was reassembled by hand after the paintwork by Porsche Exclusive Manfaktur.

Porsche Supercup 30th anniversary edition design

Porsche Malaysia lineup includes the 911 GT3 model that is powered by a rear-mounted, naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six powertrain generating maximum power of 510 hp along with a peak torque of 470 Nm. The mill is paired with a quick-shift PDK gearbox. On the performance front, the car can touch the 100 kmph mark in just 3.4 seconds and attain a top speed of 320 kmph.
