Porsche introduces the all-new Cayenne at 2023 Auto Shanghai show
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2023 Auto Shanghai show has begun with a bang in China, previewing the latest cutting-edge automotive tech and designs from the world's leading automakers. One of them is the all-new 2024 Porsche Cayenne which shows a significant improvement over its predecessor and the automaker calls it “one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche.”

The new Porsche Cayenne features a refined exterior design with a new front end that combines more strongly arched wings, a new bonnet, and new Matrix LED headlights emphasising the vehicle’s width. The HD Matrix LED Headlights are also available as an option. On the rear end, the luxury SUV benefits from new 3D-designed tail lights and a new rear apron.
Also new for 2024 is an extensive range of 20, 21, and 22-inch wheels, lightweight sports packages saving up to 33 kg, and an expanded colour palette, including three new hues - Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey.
Inside, we can see a new dashboard layout featuring a more screen-heavy arrangement. It includes -
- A new freestanding, curved 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster
- 12.3-inch infotainment display positioned on the redesigned centre stack
- Gearshift is now placed between the two screens on the dashboard
- Steering wheel controls now allow display modes switching and also houses a new stalk to the left of the wheel for controlling the driver assistance systems
- A panel on the console incorporating switches and capacitive buttons for the HVAC controls.
- A tray for smartphone charging
- An optional 10.9-inch screen on the passenger side
The new Cayenne also gains upgraded powertrain options, which include -
- 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged mill which now kicks out 348 hp of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque
- 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol delivering 468 hp and 600 Nm
- A turbocharged V6 plug-in hybrid system mated to a 174-hp electric motor, combinedly producing 463 hp. The 17.9-kWh battery is also replaced by a bigger 25.9-kWh unit
- 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 rated at 650 hp
Also part of the upgrade is a new steel spring suspension setup with active dampers that feature twin-valve technology, offering enhanced low-speed compliance at urban speed.
Porsche is now taking orders for the new Cayenne in the US with deliveries slated to commence this summer. The price starts at $80,850 (RM 358,826) and goes all the way up to $197,950 (RM 878,535).
