KUALA LUMPUR: First introduced in 2002, the Porsche Cayenne has been a vital vehicle for the brand, chipping in a significant part to the company's sales and profits. The recent news around this popular German luxury crossover is the confirmation of its electric counterpart. Yes, that’s right, the Stuttgart carmaker announced the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne EV during its recently held annual press conference.

- More limited-run special editions and the expansion of the Porsche Sonderwunsch division of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and Porsche Classic departments are also on the cards
Coming back to the Porsche Cayenne, the SUV is currently in its third generation which is due to receive a comprehensive update this year, confirms the automaker. The updates will include the introduction of enhanced plug-in hybrids with greater ranges, better long-distance comfort, and improved on and off-road performance. It will be followed by a generation upgrade after 2025 with the full electrification of the drivetrain.
The Cayenne remains the brand’s bestseller in 2022 with 95,604 registrations out of the total 3,09,884 units sold. The all-electric version of the SUV is poised to be a key player in the company’s ambitious target of achieving 80% of sales from electric vehicles by 2030.
