Which team will be representing Malaysia in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2024?
Sime Darby Racing TeamWhen will the race take place?
20-22 SeptemberAfter clinching his first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory in Monza earlier this month, Alessandro Ghiretti arrives in Singapore with a 20-point lead in the overall standings. The Team Jebsen driver will be looking to solidify his position at the top, but close competition from TORO Racing’s Mathys Jaubert means the fight is far from over. Jaubert's consistent podium finishes in Sepang make him a serious contender.
Dylan Pereira from Shanghai Yonda Team BWT also remains in strong form, having secured a win under the lights in Malaysia. Another driver to watch is Marco Giltrap from Team Porsche New Zealand, who earned his first podium of the season in Malaysia, while Martin Ragginger continues to impress, claiming his third podium finish of the year for Porsche Holding.
In the Pro-Am category, Bao Jinlong of Phantom Global Racing is edging closer to a potential fifth title, maintaining his lead in the standings. However, the battle for second remains fierce with Li Xuanyu of Z SPEED Motorsport currently holding the spot. Eric Zang from TORO Racing closed the gap significantly with two wins in Sepang, while Team Betterlife’s Li Chao remains in the hunt, sitting just behind Zang.
The Am class saw intense action in Malaysia, with Eric Kwong of Bergwerk Motorsport and Munkong Sathienthirakul from EBM Giga Racing exchanging victories. Henry Kwong from Triple Ace Racing rounded off the podium in all three races, showing consistent pace throughout.
The Singapore event will also see the debut of Simon Chan from Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand, driving the #969 Porsche Own Retail 69 Team car, while Anderson Tanoto He steps in for Francis Tjia with Trans-China Automotive Racing. Additionally, Zhu Zhiyao, the grid's only female competitor, returns behind the wheel of the #33 R&B Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
As always, the Marina Bay Street Circuit’s 4.94-kilometer layout, with its 19 corners and demanding humid conditions, will push drivers to the limit. The venue has hosted the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia since 2008 and remains one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar.
On-track action kicks off with Free Practice on Friday at 14:10 local time, followed by Saturday’s Qualifying at 13:50. Race 1 starts later that day at 16:10, with Race 2 scheduled for Sunday at 16:40.
