Porsche Boxster 2016 facelift spied
Kuala Lumpur: The spy photographers nabbed Porsche Boxster completely camouflage free ahead of its debut next year. The latest images revealed Boxster completely disguise free which manifested the uprated styling for the reworked roadster.
The revamped Porsche Boxster is yet to receive its global debut on September in Frankfurt motor show where the spy shots allowed the unrestricted glance which is making the anticipation of fewer changes visually. The refreshed 981 generation drop-top is likely to debut later this year and Porsche Cayman is expected to follow soon after.
The facelift brought the revised design for the front and rear bumpers as well as the updates overhead and taillights. Some modifications at the car's side are also visible. From the shots revealed, the mildly reworked front fascia of the car appeared tad clear which showed very fewer changes while the update were minute at new air intakes and light clusters. The more aggressive canted headlights got the same four pointed LEDs akin to it big brother 911. The slimmer taillights are the minor improvement over inoffensive taillamps which strives to catch the attention off the all-plastic exhaust surround. The car's interior is also likely to be upgraded, judging by the undisguised cabin of the latest prototype. The eluding photographs of the cabin hinted that new 981-gen Boxster will debut with the new infotainment system which comprises larger touchscreen.
Following the rumors, Porsche will finally take a leap to the turbocharged engine on the broad scale where the 2016 Porsche Boxster will debut the marque's all-new range of turbocharged flat-four engines. Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller confirmed that the Boxster and Cayman will adopt the four-cylinder power. Mueller hinted that Porsche's flat four engine which is going to come in 2.0 and 2.5- litre flavors with turbocharging could develop up to 400 metric horsepower. The most powerful version of Boxster and Cayman are Boxster Spyder and Cayman GT4 which generate 375 and 385 horsepower respectively from their flat-six engines.
Base Porsche Boxster will come powered by the 2.0 litre flat four power train with 240 horsepower whereas Boxster S could be equipped with turbocharged 2.5 litre unit. The GTS should have upwards of 370 hp from 2.5 litre unit. Comparing to the current facelift, the current base model has 265 hp; current S has 315 hp and current GTS has 330 hp.
Expected to see new Boxster either late this year or in early 2016 and the facelift of Cayman follow shortly after.
