Plus Highways toll rates due for hike in 2016
Kuala Lumpur: A total of 18 highways have been registered under a toll hike on October 15. All Class 1 passenger vehicles will now experience a hike ranging from RM 2.0 to RM 2.30 or more.
Plus Malaysia Bhd highways were not listed for hike as it was stated in the outline that the toll rates on its highways will not be reformed now as it has been since 2005.
However, the alteration might change in 2016 when four highway concessions are scheduled for an increase by 5% out of five highways. As reported by “The Star”, it is yet to be decided by the government that the hike will come into an action or not.
Further, Plus Malasia Bhd will review the hike rates in every three years after the expected hike in 2016. For entire duration of concession, Penang Bridge will not be included for such review according to their Concession agreement.
The highways which are operated by PLUS under the concession plan include New Klang Valley Expressway(NKVE), Elite Highway, Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE), New- South Expressway(NSE), Malasia-Singapore Second Link(MSSL) and the Penang Bridge.
