Planning to buy a Proton or Perodua? Here’s the model-wise waiting period

KUALA LUMPUR: A three-month-long period has now become a common sight in the automotive industry, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Why? Labor and semiconductor shortage post the pandemic across the globe; not to forget the logistic difficulties the market has been facing for a long.

National automakers, Proton and Perodua are no different from non-national players, as the two carmakers are loaded with orders. We’ll discuss them one by one.

As for Proton, its waiting period ranges from 1 to 5 months making customers wait for their dream car. The table below shows the waiting period for 2023 models -

Saga	1 week to 2 months; 4 to 5 months for the S variant
Persona	1 to 2 months
Iriz	1 month; 3 to 5 months for Active variant
Exora	1 month
X50	1 to 2 months
X70	1 to 2 months

As for Proton models with 2022 manufacturing year, the respective cars can be delivered as soon as all the formalities are completed (loan application, insurance & number plate registration).

Coming to Perodua’s waiting period is no different than that of Proton. The table below gives a brief summary of the same -

Aruz	2 to 3 months

Note, customers who plan to trade their old car for a brand-new model can still drive their car while the waiting period lasts.
