Peugeot launched a new logo and brand identity
KUALA LUMPUR: The merger of two auto groups FCA and PSA has been completed now and gave birth to a new supergroup called Stellantis. As the new era began, Peugeot became the first brand of Stellantis that received a makeover. The French automaker launched a new logo and brand identity as the 11th update to its iconic lion emblem since 1850.
Designed by the Peugeot design lab, the new logo has a much more modern and contemporary look as compared to the previous one launched in 2010. It features a royal coat of arms adorned with a roaring lion’s head. The logo reflects the brand’s electrification strategy and its aspiration to enhance user experiences through new technologies.
The new logo acknowledges “PEUGEOT’s evolution as a brand, its innovative and successful model line-up and its continuing transition to electrification, having committed to offering an electrified variant across its entire model line-up by 2025.”
Till date, the world's oldest surviving auto brand has used 10 different logos developed according to the design approach of the period. When they start to look outdated, the company brings an update to keep up with the changing times. Looking at the Peugeot logo history, it originally had a lion walking on an arrow indicating the speed, strength, and flexibility. A logo with significant changes was observed in 1926 when the automobile and the bicycle company parted their ways.
In addition to the new logo, Peugeot also launched a new brand campaign named "The Lions of our Time" aimed to attract new generations of customers globally. This will also be accompanied by a new website as well as a new lifestyle collection of clothing and accessories later this year.
The new logo will be first seen on the next-generation Peugeot 308 that spied last year while road testing. The model is expected to make a debut this month.
"Peugeot is a brand in tune with the times, With even a step ahead of its time, it keeps abreast of innovation, anticipates changes in behaviour, and paves the way for new mobility solutions," the company said.
