Perodua’s year-to-date sales stood at 196,354 units

KUALA LUMPUR: After Proton, Perodua has also revealed its September 2022 sales numbers. The country’s largest automaker managed to sell a total of 24,626 cars last month with a dip of 5.43% over the previous month. This figure has taken the brand’s YTD (year-to-date) sales up to 196,354 units i.e. a whopping 64.9% higher than 119,093 units sold in the first nine months of the last year.

Comparing the quarter results, the sales went up by 216.5% to 69,011 units in the third quarter of 2022 in relation to the same period of the last year. 

The reason for this massive growth is the lockdown imposed between June to mid-August in 2021 that put a stop to almost all the economic activities in the country. Adding to the positive sales results is the improved flow of production.

In the month of September, Perodua has cloaked the highest monthly production so far this year with 29,077 units, while year-to-date numbers stood at 206,837 units.

Commenting on the same, Perodua President and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “The increase in registrations in this quarter (3Q22) shows that most of the major issues within the automotive supply chain have normalised. It is now time to further improve on production as we need to reduce the waiting period for our valued customers.”

For the next and the last quarter of the year, Perodua aims at the vehicle registration maximisation plan. “For now, we are focused on increasing our momentum into the fourth quarter of this year as well as maximising production in the first quarter of next year to ensure all our customers who booked their Perodua vehicles during the sales tax exemption period will receive their car on or before 31 March 2023,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.

The automaker aims for an annual sales target of 247,800 units for 2022.
