Perodua's statement on the 2016 National Budget
Kuala Lumpur: Perodua has released a statement, welcoming the government’s effort to increase minimum wages in the 2016 National Budget which was announced last Friday by our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Here is Perodua’s response to the 2016 Budget announcement:
On the increase in minimum wage to RM1,000 in West Malaysia and to RM920 in East Malaysia; while we encourage better pay, we also emphasise on higher productivity to justify the increase in wages.
We hope that the government would further engage the various stakeholders such as industries and especially SMEs so that the implementation of higher wages would have the desired effect.
We also hope that the increase in wages and benefits to the public sector will also translate into a better quality of service.
Perodua is committed to offer affordable yet quality products and services without compromising on safety to our customers and the Malaysian public. Our transformation journey will continue and we would like to thank all our stakeholders including our customers for making Perodua the brand of choice.
Besides Perodua, The Malaysian Automotive Institute (MAI) has also welcomed the Budget 2016 with open arms. MAI said that the announcement of Budget 2016 will improve the automotive sector on both a domestic and global level. According to MAI CEO, Mohamad Madani Sahari the Budget 2016 will bring around more job opportunities, as well as more training and measures related to improve the sector.

However, the National Budget 2016 is getting mixed response from the car makers, local bodies and government sectors. Like Perodua, other local and foreign automotive companies also must be questioning and answering looking at the points included in the budget this year. Few might have expected a lot more things from the budget for automotive sector, others might knew the result on an earlier note. Rest, ambiguity falls in the place. The car brands can strategize their future plans on a better note and contribute to the Malaysian Automotive Segment, blustering the positivity.
