Perodua plans to go on retail with its Pre-Owned Vehicles (POV) in 2016
Kuala Lumpur: Perodua has finally opened up on the company’s Pre-Owned Vehicles (POV) division. Last night, CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh gave updates on the upcoming plans to the media on the sidelines of the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
Perodua is already in the used car business from the year 2013, although the company is now planning to expand it from the current wholesale-only model to include retail sales as well.

This surmises that now the national carmaker will set up its own pre-owned car hub in the mould of Toyota’s Topmark, Edaran Tan Chong Motor’s MUV and BMW Premium Selection, among others. Currently, the company is selling used cars through a panel of used car dealers in Malaysia.
Aminar Rashid said that the company will prefer only those cars which are up to seven years old, as it is difficult to refurbish cars older than that. As per the POV plans, only Perodua cars will be sent to into the pipes of upcoming retail POV business, the other OEM's will be wholesaled through the used car dealers. Besides that, POV’s cars will also be offered with warranty for added peace of mind to its customers.
The final plan of the Pre-Owned Vehicles (POV) division was expected to launch this year by quarter four, but now it has been delayed to next year. The major hurdle against the company for this division is the location, which has not been finalised yet. Aminar told reporters that, “We want a good location in Klang Valley and we hope we will find one soon and start the operation next year.”
CEO of the major national automotive player said, this step will surely escalate the used car sales and will prove to be a good alternative for the auto enthusiasts in these difficult economic conditions.
