Perodua Myvi: Top features
Perodua recently released the sales numbers for October 2020 that recorded the highest-ever monthly sales in the brand’s 27-year history with 26,852 units. And guess what? Topping the Perodua’s sales charts was none other than the Malaysian favourite Myvi. The petite hatchback has been the best-selling car in the country for a while now and its month-on-month sales records show Malaysians’ love for it.
Back in July, Perodua gave the Myvi a refresh for 2020; the biggest improvement being the addition of the latest Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 suite of systems to certain variants. In today’s story, we highlight the top features of the Perodua Myvi, but before that have a look at its price.

For a lot of buyers, what really matters is what kind of features their new car possesses. In this matter, the Perodua Myvi offers a lot of stuff that makes it a worthy model, let’s take a look at some of those in detail.
Sporty exterior elements
Although Myvi features a mundane styling, the exterior trim has a bunch of sporty elements, which make it stand out among others in the segment. These include LED headlamps, chrome finishing on door handles and alloy wheels, front bumper with skirting, side skirting, and rear spoiler. The level of sportiness allows the car to appeal to a wider spectrum of audience.
Energy Efficient Vehicle
The hatchback is available in two engine options - 1.3-litre, and 1.5-litre. The lower mill powers the G and X trims, while the higher one can be availed with H and AV grades. Perodua says that both mills are EEV units that work with low vibration and noise levels and provide an exceptional fuel economy. The hatchback also equips the Eco Idle System, which automatically stops the engine when the vehicle is idle and resumes back when the brake released thereby reducing fuel consumption as well as emissions. Standard safety kit
When it comes to safety, the Myvi surprisingly does a pretty solid job; It has a shining 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Some of its key safety features are six airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Hill-Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal, Front Corner Sensors, ISOFIX System with a top tether, Reverse sensors and camera.
Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0
Though the top-spec 1.5 AV was previously the only variant equipped with ASA, the more advanced ASA 2.0 version, is now standard on certain variants, including 1.5 AV and 1.5 H, and optional on the 1.3 X. The safety suite comprises several driver-assistance features such as Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 kmph), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 kmph), Front Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control, and Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 kmph). The ASA offers a solid safety shield to the passengers.
Multiple seating modes
Perodua Myvi comes with multiple seating configurations providing more space for comfort and convenience. These include
- 5 passengers mode
- Front passenger and rear full-flat mode
- Front full-flat mode
- 2 passengers mode
- 2 passengers mode in three ways
- 3 passengers mode in two ways
- 4 passengers mode
Large boot space
When it comes to a family car, storage is an essential requirement, and the petite hatchback shines in this parameter also. The compact car has a decent cabin with enough space for passengers at the front as well as rear end. Speaking of luggage capacity, it has a total space of 277 litres, good enough to accommodate four travel bags.
Smart connectivity
The range-topping Myvi also boasts a ‘Smart Link’ technology that allows the user to connect the Android gadget with the Multimedia System and screen.
Summing up
With most of the right boxes ticked, the Perodua Myvi is just close to perfection. It does its job so well that it is hard to justify paying extra for the models standing neck-to-neck against it, including Honda Jazz and Kia Picanto.
