Perodua Aruz receives a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP

KUALA LUMPUR: The SUV we did not even know the name of until yesterday is all over the internet today. This is a perfect example of how things can change quickly. Today, not only we know that the Perodua SUV is called Aruz but we also have a lot of other information like the features it is going to offer and the tentative pricing as well. To your delight, we now have some knowledge about the safety aspect of the Perodua Aruz as well.

In a recent news release, the official website of ASEAN NCAP has said, “The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) has assessed the new Perodua SUV model, Perodua Aruz. We are pleased to announce that the Perodua Aruz has obtained 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating. Details of the result will be released on 17 January 2019”.

How good is that? The cousin of the Toyota Rush with pretty much the same quality, a similar set of features, RM 20,000 less, and a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating. The new year could not have been better for people looking to buy a 7-seater SUV, could it? Although the scores of particular tests will only be revealed later this month on 17th of January, the 5-star rating is more than enough to ensure that the upcoming SUV coming from our in-house car maker will be safe as a house.

As we already know that the Perodua Aruz will be offered in two different models, the two variants have some differences in the safety equipment they have on offer. The Perodua X comes equipped with 6 airbags (dual front, side, and curtain), ABS with EBD and brake assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), hill descent control, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, seat belt reminders for all seven seats, and ISOFIX child seat anchors on outer second-row seats.

On the other hand, the Perodua AV not only comes equipped with the all safety features as seen on the X variant but it also has onboard the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 which is a high-end safety suite that includes Pre-collision Warning with pedestrian detection, Pre-collision Braking with pedestrian detection, Front Departure Alert, Pedal Misoperation Control.
