To get your car running in a good state and features working as intended, you need to look after the purchased piece of metal because, in the end, it’s a just a machine that requires periodic maintenance.
The periodic maintenance should not be limited to a formal visit to the service station, rather self-checks that are easy to do and prove beneficial for your car’s health in the long run. Following are some of the aspects you need to take care of on a regular basis.
Know the basics
Buying a car is a lot easier than maintaining. To keep it going you need to know the basics, like its specs, engine details and other essential components that are needed to be replaced. All this can be learned from the owner’s manual that describes the vehicle in detail. Get aware of the things that require attention after a certain time or kms driven.
According to the Perodua’s official website, after 10,000 km, you need to replace the engine oil, drain plug gasket, and engine oil filter of the Aruz 1500 cc Automatic.
Keep a check on the fluids
A flawless workable machine requires a periodic change of lubricants that help it function in the most appropriate manner. Vehicles are no different. You need to keep a check on the fluid levels of your car. Most popular levels to track closely are engine oil, engine coolant and brake fluid.
While the former two are easier to check and can be done easily at home without you being an auto enthusiast or a technician, the brake fluid, is something that requires expertise. To get that examined you need to visit an authorized Perodua service station. Though it lasts for a longer period of time than the other two.
The engine oil level check and coolant check are fairly easy. If you aren’t aware of how you need to check the fluid levels, then take help of the car’s service manual where you’d find step-by-step directions. Coolant keeps your car’s engine temperature in control and hence it is essential to do the necessary replacement, in case you find it difficult at home, visit the nearest service station for getting the needful.
Don’t ignore the warning lights on the cluster
As soon as you start the ignition of the Aruz you see numerous lights on the instrument cluster. We intend to ignore them primarily because we do not understand their meaning. This can be the most fatal thing you can do with your Aruz.
As the name suggests, there is a warning associated with every light. The light illuminates only when a system fails to function. It is recommended to visit the nearest Perodua service station for a quick check-up as driving the car with a failed system can cause severe damages to other components of the car or even result in loss of control.
Learn about the warning lights from the car’s owner manual.
Take care of your car’s tyres
Tyres are generally ignored as we don’t really put in efforts to examine them which we really should be doing quite often. Tyres play a crucial role in performance, fuel efficiency, braking, steering, and ride quality of the vehicle. Hence it becomes important to monitor any kind of wear and tear, tread reduction, and stuff likewise.
The wear and tear of tyres depend largely on your driving style, braking and acceleration habits, road surfaces, vehicle load and air pressure. Try to keep the air pressure as recommended by the company. The exact figure can be found in the Aruz’s vehicle manual. It is advised to replace the tyres when you notice a significant reduction in tread height. Measured in 32nds of an inch, tread above 4/32 of an inch is considered good.
Monitor your driving habits
The way you drive your Aruz matters the most. The harder you’d push the car, the quicker it’ll degrade. Alternatively, if you drive sensibly the age of car’s components will be on the higher side. Drive within limits to enjoy your Aruz’s ride for a longer period of time. Else be ready for some early maintenance expenses.
Final Word
Treat your Aruz like your baby, take good care of it, do periodic washes, visit service stations on the defined timelines, don’t skip the service schedule, perform self-checks, and drive sensibly. Following these will help your Aruz live longer and stay healthy.
