Nissan Ariya meets the highest safety standards; goes through hundreds of extensive tests

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, Nissan is keeping no stone unturned when it comes to the safety of its cars. The automaker aims to reduce the occurrence of deaths from vehicle accidents, including electric vehicles.

One of the latest examples of the automaker's determination on the task is its all-electric crossover, Ariya, and the rigorous crash testing it recently underwent. All this is to attain the highest safety standards in the event of a collision.

Nissan’s flagship EV underwent hundreds of extensive tests at the Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan. Part of the tests was frontal, side, and rear impact collisions, along with simulating accidents with pedestrians on the road.

Gen Tanabe of Nissan's Passive Safety Evaluation Group said, “More than 100 data points are evaluated on the Ariya. He added, “Because the upcoming Ariya will be sold in many markets, we will conduct more than 400 tests from the early stages of development to market launch.”

During the tests engineers from the Passive Safety Evaluation Group measured the force of potential impact on - the car’s body & structural components, and its effects on the driver & passenger. All this was done by using test dummies of various sizes, equipped with multiple sensors to record injury levels.

The test results revealed that Ariya’s unique body structure and body type, help it absorb a variety of impacts, thus offering supreme protection to the driver and passengers.

To make its vehicles safer, Nissan employs its cars with active and passive measures which keep the passengers safe in numerous scenarios. The overall goal is to prevent collision and in situations where it is unavoidable mitigate the damage as much as possible.
