KUALA LUMPUR: The sole distributor of Ford cars in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) has introduced a new variant in the Ranger’s line-up, called the XL Single Cab Manual. Like its siblings, it too promises to be a reliable and trusted work partner.

New Ford Ranger XL Single Cab Manual: Key details

Price

In the Peninsular Malaysia region, the new Ranger variant retails for RM 98,888 on the road without insurance. As for the folks in East Malaysia, the pickup truck is priced at RM 104,388, on-the-road without insurance.

Engine

Powering the all-new Ranger XL Single Cab Manual variant is the tried and tested 2.0-litre Single-Turbo diesel engine generating a maximum power output of 170 PS at 3,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 405 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm.

The drive is sent to the wheels via a new 6-speed manual transmission. Its worth can be known by the fact of it being 4-years in development and a new gear set for smooth shifts.

Dimensions

The new Ranger XL Single Cab features a bigger cargo bed that allows the owner can carry more cargo and load flat larger items. The cargo bed measures -

In addition, the Ranger XL Single Cab showcases a 50 mm increase in track and wheelbase and offers the largest single cargo bed on a pickup in the market.

Versatility

Making the pickup useful are its six cargo tie-down hooks on strong steel tube rails that secure loads, and a tailgate that can double up as a mobile workbench with an integrated ruler and clamp pockets.

Integrated technology

The Ford Ranger XL Single Cab despite being the base model comes with several standard tech features. For instance, a massive first-in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen, Ford’s voice-activated SYNC 4A communication & entertainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, reconfigurable 8-inch color digital instrument cluster, two USB ports, and a 12V power socket.

The pickup also features a strong safety shield, part of which is two airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control with traction control, trailer sway control, rollover mitigation, hill launch assist, and hill descent control.

Strong design theme

The pickup’s exterior showcases a strong design language and it is equipped with several useful elements including - a standard black front grille, body-colored front bumper, halogen headlights, front recovery hook, daytime running lights, rear black bumpers, rear fog lamps, and an LED tailgate mounted stop lamp.

Part of the kit is four striking exterior colour options namely, Meteor Grey, Absolute Black, Arctic White, and Aluminum Metallic.

Peace of mind offering warranty

Ford is offering the Ranger XL Single Cab with a 160,000km/5-year manufacturer’s warranty, whichever comes first. Interested customers can even opt for an extended warranty of up to 7-years along with an extended service package.
