New Suzuki Jimny 5-Door showcased at Auto Expo 2023; check details

KUALA LUMPUR: For a long time, a longer Suzuki Jimny version was rumored to debut and it finally happened at the India-specific Auto Expo 2023.

Let us discuss the 5-Door Suzuki Jimny in detail -

Dimensions: The new 5-Door Jimny measures 3,985 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, 1,720 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. Thus, making it 505 mm longer than the 3-Door trim. The wheelbase is also now 340 mm more, making for the enhanced cabin space.

Engine: Powering the 5-Door Jimny is a 1.5-litre petrol engine which is expected to be the same as the 3-Door’s naturally-aspirated mill making a maximum power of 102 hp and 130 Nm of peak torque.

Transmission: The power in the new 5-Door Jimny is sent to the wheels via either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior: By the looks of it the new 5-Door Jimny appears mainly similar to the ongoing 3-Door mode. In addition to the striking Kinetic Yellow tone, the car features the same front fascia, front & rear bumper, windscreen, bonnet, and wheel arch extensions. The only difference comes in the form of rear doors bodywork.

Interior: The 5-Door Jimny’s interior looks mainly identical to the 3-Door model. The main highlights are - fabric upholstery, a nine-inch touchscreen unit, and auto climate control.

Safety: The all-new Jimny in addition to the standard 3-Door features benefits from curtain airbags for both rows.

Suzuki Jimny in Malaysia

Suzuki Malaysia lineup includes 3-Door Jimny which is priced at RM 174,900, on-the-road without insurance.
