New Suzuki Baleno revealed at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show

Kuala Lumpur: The much anticipated hot hatch from the garage of Suzuki christened as Suzuki Baleno has been finally been revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is coming to India challenging the massive existence of i20, thus it might also come to Malaysia soon. Baleno is larger than the Suzuki Swift and sits above it in the Suzuki's line-up. However the car has a slightly lower roofline, although it gains more comprehensive looks Swift along with next gen features.

The new hatchback sits on an all-new platform which is likely to underpin a new baby SUV and the successor to the Swift. The car is well equipped with a dependable suspension system consisting of MacPherson strut at the front and a torsion beam set-up at the rear. The car with this gains an impressive exterior design with new chromed grille and a calm shell bonnet design. The exterior dimensions of the car read – 3995 mm x 1745 mm x 1470 mm (L x W x H).

Moving inside the Suzuki Baleno proffers a sense of inyuitive styling with plethora if latest features. The car boasts an uncluttered dashboard design with an optional 7-inch touch-screen display. Apart from it the basic editions it is also equipped with an LCD display and the centre console is designed to look more compact and intuitive. Suzuki has also announced that this infotainment set-up also includes Apple's CarPlay connectivity for iPhone users. The car boasts a mammoth cargo volume of 355 litres that gives it an advantage over its sibling Suzuki Swift and its competitors like Ford Fiesta and VW Polo.

Beneath the bonnet, the car holds a 1.2-Litre Dual Jet engine, which generates 89 bhp in collaboration with a torque of 89 lb.ft. Also, the company provides an economical variant with 1.0-Litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine dubbed as Booster Jet that pumps 110 bhp of maximum power and 125lb of torque between 2000 and 3500rpm. Apart from it there is also a new mild hybrid edition added as SHVS, which is poured in power by a 1.2 Litre engine along with an electric unit (integrated starter generator). The torque produced is equally distributed towards the front with a standard 5-speed manual transmission and the Dual Jet variant comes with a CVT gearbox. A 6-speed automatic transmission option is also available with the Booster Jet engine variant.

The European sales of the Baleno are due to start in spring 2016.The price of the car is not yet revealed although speculations suggest that it comes to Malaysia then it will be available around RM79K.
