New Perodua EV set to debut at Malaysia Auto Show 2024
KUALA LUMPUR: The 7th edition of the Malaysia Autoshow, hosted by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics, and IoT Institute (MARii), is set to be held from May 22 to May 26, 2024. The event promises to be a grand showcase of an exciting range of vehicles, both ICE-powered and battery-powered, from local and foreign brands. Among them is an electrified Perodua car.

The national automaker has recently released a teaser on its social media handle displaying a hatchback model equipped with an electrified drivetrain, which ignited significant anticipation among automotive enthusiasts. However, details regarding whether the upcoming model will be a completely new addition to Perodua's lineup or based on an existing model, and whether it will be fully electric or a hybrid, have not yet been disclosed by the automaker.
In addition to the electrified model, the teaser also previews another Perodua vehicle, which appears to be an upgraded version of the seven-seater Aruz.
Well, we are eagerly awaiting further details on these upcoming models. In the meantime, let's take a closer look at the Perodua EM-O EV Concept, which the automaker revealed last year during the Malaysia Autoshow.
The Perodua EM-O (Electric Motion Online) EV Concept, a B-Segment EV hatchback, was displayed in the form of a 1:6 scale clay iteration of the car. The actual measurements read 3,895 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, 1,515 mm tall, and a 2,500-mm long wheelbase.
The prototype was equipped with a 95 PS/121 Nm electric motor and a 50-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, promising to deliver a range of between 300 km - 350 km. In terms of design, the car featured an angular front fascia with a funky grille. The five-door hatchback also had short overhangs and a continuous tail light pattern.
