New Mitsubishi Montero Sport gets visual updates

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently when Mitsubishi introduced the all-new Montero Sport. And now we hear that the automaker has already come out with a visual upgrade kit for the SUV. However, unlike the Strada upgrade kit that gives the car an off-roader, fierce look, the company took a different approach with the Montero Sport.

The visual kit gives the Mitsubishi Montero Sport a more ‘VIP’ look, it makes the car look like an urban city cruiser rather than a trail-ready rig. The front features a deeper chin than the standard model, thus making the car lower. Also, included in the kit is ‘Pajero Sport’ spelled on the edge of the hood, and a large centre opening with contrasting chrome strip.

To the Montero Sport’s flanks, you can add accessories like flush-mounted step boards, rain visors, and fender arch moldings. The alloy wheels feature a Strada-like six-spoke design. The rear gets the same visual kit as the front end, thus giving the car a lowered look.

Are you interested in a more subtle upgrade? Well, that too is on offer at the OEM. So, instead of the kit upgrades, it gets front under garnish (adds to the undercarriage protection), the same can be found on the rear as well. Other accessories include - a built-in-dashcam, hood protector, luggage tray, exhaust finisher, and an illuminated scuff plates for the cabin.

For now, this visual kit is limited to the Thai market. Since we are waiting for the Malaysian-spec 2019 Montero Sport, this upgrade kit is expected to follow sometime after the launch.
