New Honda ZR-V set to make debut on November 11

KUALA LUMPUR: The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021 is set to take place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition between November 11 to November 21, 2021. The event will centre stage many upcoming cars and one of them is a new five-seater SUV from Honda. While details on this upcoming Honda SUV are very scarce at the moment, it is supposed to be based on the recently unveiled BR-V and is reportedly called ZR-V. 

The Japanese automaker recently released a few teaser images for the compact SUV showcasing its silhouette. This signifies that the car will have the brand’s latest design language along with the coupe style. It is also expected to feature a large front grille with a frame extending to the headlights on the front and sporty machine-cut alloy wheels on the sides. The rear image sports slim, tall LED tail lights with a dotted line design and an RS badge, hinting towards the turbocharged model.

According to the reports, the ZR-V has been specially designed for the Indian market and is expected to replace the Jazz-based WR-V. If reports stand true, it will be competing in the over-crowded sub-compact SUV segment in India which has players like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Urban, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon and more.

As for mechanicals, the Honda ZR-V may get a 1.2-litre i-VTEC gasoline mill generating a maximum power output of 90 hp and a peak torque of 110 Nm. Other possibilities include a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine capable of generating 116 hp and a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit with a power output of 122 hp. Transmission choices may comprise a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

We need to wait for its debut for exact details on the Honda ZR-V, which is just three days away.
