New Honda HR-V debut slated for next month

KUALA LUMPUR: The next-gen Honda HR-V is slated for a February 2021 debut, and will be sold in multiple markets around the world. The automaker also released the car’s first official teaser giving us hints about its design language that showed coupe-like styling.

When will the next-gen HR-V arrive?

Honda is testing the new HR-V for quite some time now in Japan. Earlier, it was expected to be introduced before wrapping by 2020, however, Honda has now confirmed that the cover from the new HR-V would be lifted sometime around 18th February, 2021. Further, the new HR-V will join the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, thus making it a crucial model in the brand’s lineup.

Next-gen Honda HR-V details we know so far -

• The new HR-V will share its underpinning with the latest Jazz model
• It’ll borrow a few interior bits from the new Jazz hatch
• Powering the compact SUV will be two mills - a 1.0-litre petrol and a new mill with eHEV hybrid tech
• The new HR-V will benefit from leather seats with ventilation, rear AC vents, dual-tone dashboard, adjustable headrest and armrest

• Its large touchscreen infotainment system will come with smartphone connectivity, voice command, Android Auto & Apple
• CarPlay connectivity, wireless charger, and smartphone connectivity
• The exterior bits will include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, full-width LED tail lights, and an optional black roof with panoramic glass roof

On arrival, depending on the market the Honda HR-V will complete with the likes of Jeep Renegade, Nissan Kicks, Toyota Corolla Cross, and more.

It is known that the Honda HR-V will first go on sale in the Japanese market, followed by European market. A slightly different version of the compact SUV is expected to arrive in North America a little later.
