More adventurous Ford EcoSport Active to debut on November 6
KUALA LUMPUR: In Ford’s lineup, Active is a tag that signifies offroad visual upgrades and additional ground clearance. The automaker currently has two Active models on the list, including the Focus and the FWD Fiesta exclusive to the UK and EU markets. And, now the popular Ford Ecosport is up for joining the Active range. Through a Twitter post, the company confirmed that the off-road inspired EcoSport will make its debut on November 6 in Europe.
The tweet came with a teaser image, previewing the right-side fender of an orange EcoSport. The image also shows the Active badge and a thick cladding, that most probably will have go-anywhere characteristic. However, the company is keeping the standard equipment list under wraps but said that the 2021 EcoSport Active would have an increased ride height, extra body protectors, and unique styling inside and out.
If we see the Active package available with the Fiesta and the Focus, it comprises specific Active bumpers with black finishings, black plastic detailing around the wheel arches, silver skid plates, and specific alloy wheels. The extra ground clearance of around 2 cm is also part of the Active ingredients. We expect the same kind of stuff for the upcoming EcoSport Active.
Another adventurous touch to be added inside the Ford EcoSport Active is the driver’s seat that will be placed in a higher position than standard.
“Customers tell us they love how EcoSport’s bold styling, practical interior, and versatility fits into their busy lives, so we’re excited to enhance the SUV with an Active version that delivers even more of those qualities. The EcoSport Active will be a new addition to the Active series that offers extra capability and rugged style for customers who want to take their outdoor adventures to the next level,” said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Europe’s VP of marketing, sales and service.
The Ecosport is currently available in Malaysia in two variants - Trend and Titanium. Both are powered by a 1.5-litre gasoline engine producing 110 PS of maximum power and 142 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. We hope the new Ecosport Active would soon make its way to the local market after the launch.
