Mitsubishi will start working on the next-gen ASX soon
KUALA LUMPUR: One of the senior models from the famous auto-giant Mitsubishi, the ASX will be replaced soon. The ASX came into existence in 2010, and the age has got the compact SUV to give a tough fight to the new models in the segment.
Vincent Cobee, the corporate vice-president of the product strategy department, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, said that the next-generation model will be unveiled soon. Moreover, he also added that the Nissan-Mitsubishi-Renault Alliance will not launch a rebadged model. The next generation ASX will come with updated features along with new equipment, as it is one of the core models from Mitsubishi.
From the corporate vice-president’s words, we have also come to know that the brand-new ASX may get a platform from the alliance and will boast Mitsubishi flavour, which will be quite unique. It means the alliance will provide with the assets, while Mitsubishi will assemble the car and the buyers will get a taste of the Japanese brand as well.
Moreover, the platform components of the next-generation model will be similar to the other alliance models. It will help to maximise the modularity, whereas the automaker will do the development work itself.
However, Mr. Vincent Cobee has not mentioned about when the ASX will be launched. But he did mention that before working on other models, they will work on a refreshed version of Pajero Sport.
Going by Mr. Vincent Cobee’s words, the company is also working on the next-gen Outlander and is expected to launch the model in upcoming years. The focus will then shift to the refreshed version of Pajero Sport.
