Mitsubishi Triton VGT Adventure price hike by RM2k

Kuala Lumpur: The Mitsubishi Triton VGT Adventure has been revised for its price, which is now available at RM110,218 with on-the-road (OTR) costs sans insurance. With this change, now it will cost around RM2,000 higher to its interested buyers.

At the time of its launch, it was available at the price of RM108,274 inclusive of OTR costs without insurance. The reason for the price hike of this sturdy vehicle is said to be the volatile foreign exchange situation as quoted by the Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM).

While the Triton VGT Adventure suffers from a price hike, MMM has stated that it will maintain “the prices of other models until the first quarter of 2016, as announced.” Despite carrying a heftier price tag, the Mitsubishi Triton VGT Adventure is now available with a complimentary Adventure Sports Bar with every purchase plus a RM2,000 rebate. Alternatively, customers can also opt for a RM3,500 cash rebate and forgo the sports bar.

Launched in May 2015, the CBU from Thailand Mitsubishi Triton is available in five variants namely Triton Quest (4 X 2 MT), Triton MT, Triton VGT MT, Triton VGT AT and Triton VGT Adventure (AT only). Triton VGT is powered by a 2.5-litre VGT engine with 178 PS/400 Nm output at 2000 rpm which is a massive improvement over the ongoing 178 PS/350 Nm DI-D motor. The new 182 PS/430 Nm 2.4-litre engine which was available with Mitsubishi Triton last year in the Thai market will not be available here due to Malaysia's diesel of lower quality. Also available are two 5-speed gearbox choices made available with Auto transmission with Sport or Manual mode.

The mid-variant non-VGT Triton MT is powered up by a 2.5-litre 136 PS maximum power output with 324 Nm torque at 2000 rpm, while the entry level 2.5-litre 110 PS/200 Nm common rail unit is available for Quest. Stay tuned for detailed specifications on Mitsubishi Triton.
