Mitsubishi in plans to bring back the Ralliart name
KUALA LUMPUR: For a long time now Mitsubishi has not associated the Ralliart name with its motorsport and performance division. However, according to a recent teaser by the automaker, it is all about to change.
It was only in May this year that the automaker announced the return of the Ralliart name and now Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has a teaser of two concept cars -Ralliart and an EV kei car.
Both cars will be fully revealed at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2022.
As per Mitsubishi, the EV kei concept is a new generation of all-electric kei cars that focuses on comfort, safety, security, and environmental-friendliness. Overall, the kei EV car combines the smooth performance of an EV and the practicality of a kei-car, all this while offering connectivity and advanced driver assistance systems.
The Ralliart concept car, on the other hand, is a combination of the brand’s passion for Monozukuri challenges and engineering. The car has a strong presence backed with a premium feel, thus indicating the company’s vision for the new Ralliart.
On the return of the Ralliart name company’s CEO, Takao Kato said the revival will see new custom-made accessories for Mitsubishi models and re-entering of the brand in motorsports.
In Thailand, Mitsubishi has even started celebrating the return of the iconic nameplate by introducing the launch of two special edition models - the Pajero & Triton Ralliart Edition. These models feature blacked-out door-handles, wheels, and wing mirrors along with red mud flaps. The two also get Ralliart bumper trims, decals, and Ralliart floor mats.
