Mitsubishi D:X Concept breaks cover in Japan
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2023 Japan Mobility Show has kicked off in Tokyo with all pomp and show. Mitsubishi is one of the exhibitors at the event that has put on display an all-new D:X Concept (“D" stands for Discover and "X" for experience), which is a six-seater electrified crossover. According to the reports, the new Mitsubishi D:X Concept gives a preview of the next-gen Delica MPV.

The crossover underpins the "Maximum Space and Safety for Humans, Maximum Off-Roader for Boundaryless Adventure" design concept. It comprises Dynamic Shield front fascia with an integrated shield that extends from the sides and skid plates offering enhanced protection. The prototype also features sturdy over fenders, large-diameter tyres, T-shaped headlamps with projection laser lights, side window graphics extending from the front to the D-pillar, a raised suspension setup and sliding doors.
The Mitsubishi D:X Concept is sprayed with a glamping-inspired copper shade featuring a new semi-gloss texture.
The interior of the concept vehicle boasts a 2+2+2 seating configuration with Panoramic seats that rotate and move up and down, tan-coloured genuine leather upholstery, a front window, and a see-through hood offering an open, wide field of vision. Also part of the kit is a voice-interactive AI concierge system and a new-gen sound system developed in collaboration with Yamaha.
Under the hood of the new Mitsubishi D:X Concept lies a plug-in hybrid engine that uses the S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) system offering an EV mode for daily use and a hybrid mode for long-distance trips. It also comes mated to several driving modes, allowing drivers to tailor their driving experience to different conditions and preferences.
Alongside the new D:X Concept, Mitsubishi also unveiled a prototype of the all-new Triton pickup truck at the event, which is scheduled to launch in Japan in early 2024.
