KUALA LUMPUR: Proton’s S70 has found its way into the hands of another proud owner—this time, as the grand prize for Miss Asia (Southeast Asia) 2024. Janice Chian Yan Tong, a 24-year-old from Ipoh, claimed victory over 16 other finalists to earn the prestigious crown, and with it, a brand-new Proton S70.

She recently took delivery of her prize at Proton’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Shah Alam Selangor.

Janice, much like the car she received, represents confidence, ambition, and a winning spirit—traits that Proton says align with the S70’s identity.

After taking her new car for a spin, Janice was quick to highlight its smooth handling, intelligent features, and stylish design.

The Proton S70 is positioned as a C-segment sedan at a B-segment price, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine pushing out 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Proton claims this setup offers the right mix of power and efficiency. The sedan is available in four variants—Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X—all of which boast a refined driving experience backed by Proton’s well-known ride and handling expertise.

Design-wise, the S70 sports LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and a distinctive rear taillight bar. Inside, it offers a comfortable cabin with leatherette seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and rear air vents for added comfort. Remote connectivity is also part of the package, giving owners more control over their car via the Proton Link app.

Technology takes center stage in the Flagship and Flagship X variants, which come with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and "Hi PROTON" voice command system. Safety features include six airbags, a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, and a Level 2 ADAS suite with 13 advanced driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), intelligent cruise control, and lane change assist. A 360-degree 3D camera and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) further enhance safety and convenience.
