MIROS welcomes Dr. Wong Shaw Voon as the new chairman
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), the statutory agency of the Malaysian government welcomes Dr. Wong Shaw Voon as its new chairman. Dr. Wong took the official charge on February 5, 2022. He is not a new name in the transportation and engineering industry of Malaysia as he was the director-general and board member of the organization earlier.

The new chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) is Dr. Wong Shaw Voon.While congratulating the new chairman via a Facebook post, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong expressed his confidence in Wong’s vast experience in the sector and his service towards the organization, the community, and the country.
Dr. Wee mentioned that Wong “had also served in the ministry’s Special Investigation Committee that carried out the investigation and produced the report on the LRT collision in May last year.”
With a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and System Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Wong is a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology and also serves as a consultant to the United Nations on the UN Road Safety Fund. He obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Dublin City University in Ireland.
Wong succeeded Datuk Suret Singh who held the position for almost three years. Dr. Wee thanked the former chairman and expressed his appreciation for his services in public transport and road safety.
