Mercedes starts pre-production testing of AMG One
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-AMG One first made its debut as a concept at the 2017 International Motor Show, Germany. And now, we hear that hybrid hypercar has started with its pre-production testing at the company’s test track and technology centre at Immendingen. However, this is not the car’s last round of testing, as the automaker revealed that the One would also have another test round on the Nurburgring circuit north loop soon.
The Mercedes-AMG One hypercar is powered by the road-going interaction of 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrid motor that features in several Formula One cars. This powerplant, along with four electric motors, makes an amazing power output of 1000 PS at 11,000 rpm.
Further enhancing its performance is its active aerodynamics that includes extendable two-stage rear wing that maximizes downforce when in race mode, thus delivering supreme performance and grip.
Though not much is revealed, the cabin of the Mercedes-AMG One is expected to feature -
- Bucket seats with adjustable backrests that are integrated into the car’s monocoque skeleton
- F1-style steering wheel with LED shift lights
- Rearview camera, replacing the mirror
- Two high-res 10-inch displays to read relevant data
Priced at USD 2.75 million (approx RM 1147437.50), all 275 production units of the AMG One hypercar are sold out. The car is expected to reach its assigned owners by 2021.
