Meet Zeekr 007: A performance-oriented electric sedan with world’s fastest charging and a 90-inch exterior display
KUALA LUMPUR: This year Geely's EV brand Zeekr will set up its shop in Malaysia with the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 as its first offerings. However, today we are going to talk about the Zeekr 007 which is the brand’s yet another hi-tech electric vehicle that may land on Malaysian shores sometime next year.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What’s new on the 2025 Zeekr 007?
For the 2025 model year, the Zeekr 007 benefits from the second-gen Golden Battery, faster acceleration times, upgraded Haohan intelligent driving 2.0 system, and new Zeekr OS AI.How fast is the Zeekr 007?
The top-spec 4WD performance version of the Zeekr 007 runs from zero to 100 kmph in just 2.84 seconds. The Zeek 007 is an all-electric luxury sedan that squares up against the Tesla Model 3. Introduced in China last year, the EV has now received a significant round of updates.
The upgraded sedan benefits from the second-generation Golden Battery with a capacity of 75-kWh, offering a driving range of 688 km (on the CLTC cycle). The EV maker introduced the self-developed lithium iron phosphate accumulator called Golden “Brick” Battery last year. It is the world’s first mass-produced LFP battery with volume utilisation over 80%, claims Zeekr. The 007 is the brand’s first EV that features the said battery pack.
With the generation upgrade, the charging speed of the battery has increased from 4.5C to 5.5C. The new generation version achieves 80% from 10% SoC in 10.5 minutes, which is 4.5 minutes faster than the predecessor. According to Zeekr, this outperforms all current mass-produced lithium ternary batteries, thus making the Zeekr 007 the world’s fastest-charging EV.
Another battery option available for the performance-oriented sedan is a 100 kWh CATL Qilin battery, which comes with longer-ranged versions. It offers a CLTC-claimed range of 870 km.
Built on the PMA2+ platform, the Zeekr 007 underpins the “Hidden Energy” design language designed by Stefan Sielaff, the former Bentley designer who currently serves as Vice President of Global Design at Geely.
This hi-tech EV continues to feature a massive 90-inch LCD screen or an Interactive Social Display (ISD), which is integrated into the vehicle's front facade. This display can show messages to other road users and allows the driver to talk to pedestrians or make funny preset noises.
While other exterior elements also remain unchanged, the EV gets a new 20-inch wheel design for the 2025 model year.
Inside this Chinese EV, we can find a 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display and a 15.05-inch rotating LCD screen; the automaker has upgraded the operating system from Zeekr OS 6.0 to Zeekr OS AI. All car systems can now be controlled by voice from anywhere in the cabin, with the system offering active recommendations like charging reminders and adjusting AC settings.
The 2025 Zeekr 007 also gains the Haohan intelligent driving 2.0 system with Lidar and visual fusion, powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips. The new system offers enhanced handling of complex intersections with 1000 new traffic scenarios, and improved cognitive accuracy by over 120%. Among the newly added features are advanced parking capabilities and remote control fingertip parking.
Speaking of the powertrain, the 2025 Zeekr 007 is available with the same options as before, but with improved acceleration times. The rear-wheel drive version has a 421 PS motor and can now accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5 seconds (0.4 seconds quicker than earlier).
The all-wheel drive version adds a 224 PS front motor, boosting total power to 645 PS and 710 Nm of torque. The standard AWD trim now completes the century sprint in 3.4 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker than before) while the AWD performance version remains unchanged at 2.84 seconds. According to the automaker, the Zeekr 007 is the “world’s fastest accelerating mid-level pure electric car.”
The 2025 Zeekr 007 price in China begins at CNY 209,900 (RM 129,897) and goes all the way up to CNY 299,900 (RM 185,594).
