Meet the Toyota Rangga, a multi-purpose truck concept previewed at GIIAS 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside previewing the environmental-friendly Corolla Cross H2 concept and Fortuner Flex Fuel, Toyota has also unveiled an innovative “Rangga Concept” at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023. It is a multi-purpose truck that can be observed as the evolution of the IMV 0 concept introduced in Thailand last December.

    If you are curious about the meaning of Rangga, the word has been derived from the Javanese word ‘ronggo’, which means “hero” and symbolises “strong and tough”. The automaker earlier used the same name for a version of the Kijang offered in Indonesia in the 1990s.

    Will the Toyota Rangga enter into production? The answer is ‘Yes’. Toyota confirms the multi-purpose truck concept will go into production in the near future. Although, the announcement does not tell exactly when it will happen. 

    Also, the automaker remained tight-lipped about the technical specification and dimensions of the Rangga Concept. However, it has confirmed its intention to collaborate with local car shops in order to transform the Rangga according to the diverse needs of customers.
