Meet Honda’s new electric vehicle concept, the e:N2

KUALA LUMPUR: Last year, Honda introduced two electric SUVs based on the HR-V, called the e:NS1 and the e:NP1. Fast forward to today, the Japanese automaker has expanded its electrified lineup with the reveal of the e:N2 Concept at the 2022 China International Import Expo in Shanghai. This is one of the 10 electric cars Honda plans to launch in the People’s Republic in the next five years. 

Let’s check out the key highlights of the Honda e:N2 Concept - 

• Honda’s latest EV is based on a new architecture called "e:N Architecture F" platform, which is exclusively developed for the brand’s "e" series
• The EV boasts a razor-edged design and refers to a new class of its body style featuring a fastback-like shape and a jacked-up ride height 
• It features sharp and dynamic body lines and surface finishing with angular daytime running lights, crisp sides, sharp fenders, and an illuminated “Honda” wordmark at the back paired with tail-fin-like tail lights

• Honda confirms the road-ready e:N2 EV will be equipped with an e:N OS intelligent control ecosystem and Honda SENSING 360-degree pack offering intelligent anti-collision protection with the help of a forward-looking sensor camera and a 5 mm wave radar
• While there is no interior image yet available for the Honda e:N2, the automaker described it as a clean and uncluttered digital cockpit loaded with passenger-focused features, lighting and scents
• No details have been mentioned on the drivetrain so far

According to Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe, “Honda will accelerate various electrification initiatives in the entire value chain, including R&D, procurement, production, sales, and after-sales service, and further expand e: In the N product matrix, by 2027, 10 pure electric vehicles will be launched one after another, and at the same time, it will provide Chinese users with e:N products full of endless fun with a solid and stable full value chain system.

“The e:N2 Concept represents the value of our e:N Series, which will ‘redefine the fun EVs can offer to customers’ with their unique driving pleasure, the value as a mobility space and design. In China, Honda will continue delivering a broad range of electrified mobility products unique only to Honda and experience our rebirth into an electric mobility brand.”

With that being said, Honda aims to become a complete EV brand by 2040.
