Mazda MX-5 to Land in Malaysia in August
KUALA LUMPUR: Bermaz Motor sources revealed the Malaysian launch of the upcoming convertible road machine. Japanese auto maker's production Miata or Mazda MX-5 to land in Malaysia in August. It is already known and loved by different auto markets of the world, which is finally making its way to the South Asian country, Malaysia.
Convertible car lovers would like to peep inside this roadster, which is now based on Mazda's Kodo design philosophy. This philosophy is aimed at developing cars, which are more than just a mass of metal, making them more interactive.
The use of aluminium and highly malleable steel makes this car ultra light, with an overall kerb weight of around 990 to 1,060 Kg.
Mazda MX-5 is likely to carry features like dual pinion electronic power steering, Adaptive Front-lighting System which helps in controlling the light beams, Blind Spot Monitoring System and GPS navigation. It might be adhered with safety features like Lane Departure Warning System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert helping spot the vehicles in the blind spot.
On the entertainment front, it will get a 7-inch touchscreen MZD Connect System, which would take over when the navigation system is switched on. Also, passengers can enjoy the 9-speaker Bose AudioPilot sound interface with both options, with or without the top cover.
On the technical front, it comes powered by 2.0L Skyactiv-G petrol mill which is good enough to produce 158 hp and 200 Nm of torque. While, the 1.5L engine will not make to the Malaysian market, which was previously anticipated.
Also, the Malaysian Mazda MX-5 would get only a 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission system and no manual transmission is on offer for the residents of Malaysia. The limited-slip differential also comes as standard due to the presence of 2.0L engine.
