Mazda MX-5 R-Sport arrived in the UK; online bookings open

KUALA LUMPUR: The popular two-seater roadster, Mazda MX-5 has appeared in a new R-Sport avatar. The Japanese automaker, Mazda launched the special edition model in the United Kingdom with a production limit of just 150 units. The online booking of the newly outfitted roadster is now open at a price tag of £27,700 (RM 150,125).

The sporty MX-5 is decked with some special finishing touches to have a remarkable distinguished appearance in comparison to the standard model. It features a grey soft-top roof and a new Polymetal Grey metallic paint. A pair of 16-inch Rays gunmetal alloy finish and piano black wing mirrors complete the captivating look of the special edition MX-5.

When it comes to interior design, the MX-5 R-Sport has the same custom-made look as the exterior. It features burgundy Nappa leather seats with silver stitching. However, the standard equipment list is almost similar to the standard version. It includes a 7-inch MZD Connect infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, cruise control, climate control, and heated seats.

The 2020 Mazda MX-5 R-Sport adopted the outstanding chassis and mechanical set up from the Sport MX-5. The SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre four-cylinder powertrain delivers 132 PS of maximum power and 152 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

With the R-Sport trim, the 2020 Mazda MX-5 lineup now has ten models on the list - four Convertibles and six RFs.

The deliveries of the MX-5 R-Sport will start in the UK once the current lockdown restrictions come to an end. The availability in the Malaysian market is not yet announced.
