Mazda MX-5 manual transmission coming to Malaysia!
Kuala Lumpur: With the recent launch news of Mazda MX-5 in Malaysia, another moment of euphoria for driving enthusiasts is the manual transmission variant availability. The news has been announced by an authentic source, Bermaz CEO Datuk Seri Ben Yeoh, who said, “Yes, we are working on that (manual MX-5). It’s coming in a couple of months.”
This two-door roadster packed with 2.0-litre high-compression, direct-injected SkyActiv-G engine carrying four cylinders generates power of about 158 HP at 6000 rpm alongside 200 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm. It is coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. A variant with similar engine configuration is available with the automatic MX-5, launched today at RM219,999.
Shifting focus to the availability of smaller 1.5-litre engine variant in the Malaysian market, there are speculations that it will not show its face. Assumed reason for the same is country residents higher expectations from a sporty car. Why not? 2.0-litre engine variant will serve all the purpose as expected from this Mazda car!
