Mazda CX-30 specifications sheet out for Europen market
KUALA LUMPUR: For long, we heard about Mazda’s upcoming SUV, the CX-30. The said Mazda car would first launch in the European market, followed by others. The automaker recently conducted a press drive, wherein it also issued the preliminary specs sheet and gallery of the CX-30. As known, once launched, the CX-30 would rest between the CX-3 and CX-5 in the Mazda lineup.
The CX-30 is nothing but a crossover version of the Mazda 3 hatchback and is offered with the same under the hood configuration. In the list is included a low tune 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol mill that churns out 122 PS of power at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Thanks to the features like the new Mazda M Hybrid and cylinder deactivation, the crossover features a mileage of 16.13 to 13.7 kmpl (on WLTP cycle). Next, there’s also a 1.8-litre SkyActiv-D turbodiesel unit that offers 116 PS at 4,000 rpm and 270 Nm from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. The fuel consumption figure here rests between 19.61 to 15.15 kmpl.
Like the Mazda 3, the CX-30 will also bring along a SkyActiv-X petrol mill that uses Spark Plug Controlled Compression Ignition system. We are not sure about its power output, but in Mazda 3, it makes 180 PS and 224 Nm. This engine also benefits from the company’s M Hybrid tech.
On the transmission front, all the engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Customers can also go for the optional i-Activ all-wheel-drive system that’s now improved and more efficient, it works best with G-Vectoring Control system.
The MX-30 underpins Mazda’s SkyActiv-Vehicle Architecture and gets a body that uses continuous ring structure and a straight framework. The 1,310 MPa rated ultra-high-tensile steel allows for a rigid and lightweight body design. The McPherson struts at the front and torsion beam setup at the rear take care of the suspension duties, which for improved refinement combines extensive insulation.
The Mazda CX-30 dimensions sheet reads 4,395 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, 1,540 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,655 mm. Thus, neatly slotting it between the CX-3 and CX-5, as claimed by the company. Also, the increased dimensions provide for more couple distance, i.e., the gap between front passengers along with ample head- and knee-room. The crossover offers a boot capacity of 430-litre.
On the outside, the Mazda CX-30 features an added body cladding and raised ride height. The front gets wing-shaped grille, and sharp headlights with sequential indicators. On the side, we see body-colored door handles, upswept window line, and narrower C-pillar. The rear gets a reshaped tail light that comes with a dramatic side surfacing.
