Mazda CX-3 Previewed in Malaysia; Launch Still Awaited

Kuala Lumpur: When everyone is waiting for a launch, Mazda CX-3 was previewed in Malaysia at the 2015 NST-MAI ASEAN auto show. According to Bermaz, the official dealer of Mazda in Malaysia, this crossover would mark its Malaysia debut on December 8 with one variant only and price range from RM130k to RM135k. Although, it also being planned to locally produce this crossover but as of now 2,000 units will be imported from Japan. We wonder, why not the neighboring Thailand-produced CX-3?

This B-segment crossover would be powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine which churns out a maximum power of 146 hp along with 192 Nm of peak torque. Further, it also features Mazda’s i-Stop engine idling stop system. The SkyActiv-G engine is mated with a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic gearbox which sends its power to front wheels.

Towards the exterior, it features Mazda's very own Kodo styling language which can be seen in its other cars as well. The illumination is provided by LED projector headlights with high beam control and LED daytime running lights. Further, this crossover is anchored to 18-inch five twin-spoke wheels with 215/50 R18 tyres in a gunmetal finish and silver painted exterior trim pieces. Inside, the seats are wrapped in a combination of black leather and fabric upholstery. The automaker has also provided MZD Connect multimedia unit which is further linked to a 7-inch touchscreen display. Its driver-centric cabin is further assisted by heads-up display (HUD), paddle shifters and keyless entry and ignition. It's huge sunroof makes the cabin more airy and roomy.

The automaker has also provided an array of safety features in this car which includes a six airbag mechanism. Further, it has got Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), traction control and anti-lock brakes with EBD, brake assist and hill launch assist.
