Malaysian-spec Mazda MX-5 RF updated for 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda Malaysia is busy updating and revising its models, maybe to make them at par with customers’ preference and taste. In its recent update spree, the automaker picks two models - the Mazda 6 and Mazda MX-5 RF. We have already discussed Mazda 6 updates in detail, now it’s time to focus on the latter.
Updated for the 2021 model year, the MX-5 RF gets a few but noticeable updates. However, before moving on to the details, let’s first check out the trims on offer and their price. The 2021 MX-5 RF is offered in two variant options, the only difference between them being the gearbox. The one with a 6-speed manual unit retails for RM 258,591 and the 6-speed automatic one is priced at RM 260,527.
Note the above-mentioned prices include a standard 5-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty and free service package including lubricants, labour, and parts. Also, the prices are on-the-road without insurance and factors in SST relief, i.e., 50% as the hardtop convertible comes fully-imported from Japan.
So, what’s new with the 2021 Mazda MX-5 RF? The convertible’s Mazda Connect infotainment system now supports Wireless Apple CarPlay, in addition to the previously available Android Auto. Everything else remains the same as the ongoing model that received an update last year only.
