All-New Mitsubishi Outlander SUV Will Arrive in Malaysia in Early 2016
Kuala Lumpur: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has recently confirmed that the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV will be launched in the country in early 2016. While the facelifted version of the seven-seater SUV is already available in various countries across the world, Malaysian people will finally get the chance to own the latest model of the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, which will be powered by the brand's MIVEC petrol engine. The announcement was made by Yang Won-Chul, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM). Yang said that the company is excited to launch a seven-seater SUV to the Malaysian market very soon. He also added that the latest Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is MMM's first model to be introduced with the brand's Dynamic Shield Concept.
The Dynamic Shield Concept of Mitsubishi Motors is basically its latest design language which features a twin horizontal chrome bars flanked by the newly-designed headlights at the front-end; to effectively form a design that the automaker calls its Dynamic Shield concept. The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV will be also equipped with a wide range of safety and premium features including seven airbags, Active Stability Control (ASC), LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, sunroof, an electric tailgate and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, to name a few. As mentioned, a facelift version of Mitsubishi Outlander has already made its global debut at 2015 New York Auto Show, where the SUV was presented to the public in two petrol-powered variants – a 3.0-liter V6 engine and 2.4-liter inline-four engine.
The upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander SUV in Malaysia is said to be powered by the 2.4-liter inline-four pot engine that is capable of producing the maximum power of 166hp and a peak torque of 219 Nm. The task of power transmission will be managed by the newly-developed CVT automatic gearbox. In good old days, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia was used to sell the 3.0-liter V6 engine powered Outlander with the price tag of RM183K. At that time, the SUV was also offered in a 2.4-liter SOHC petrol engine which produced the maximum power of 160 PS along with a peak torque of 215 Nm.
