Malaysia-bound Zeekr X EV gets an update in China for 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely's premium EV brand Zeekr is ready to make waves in Malaysia. As per last month's reports, the EV maker has appointed Sentinel Automotive as its local partner, with plans to introduce the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 EVs first. Well, ahead of arrival in Malaysia, the Zeekr X has received a mild upgrade in China for 2025.

    As reported by CarNewsChina, the Zeekr X gains a new "Miami Orange'' colour option, adding a vibrant and eye-catching choice to its lineup, appealing to those seeking a bold and energetic aesthetic for their vehicle. The list of continuing options includes -  beige, green, grey, purple, silver, and white.

    There are no changes in terms of styling as the EV continues to feature a closed-off grille, advanced matrix headlamps, a full-width tail light bar, and a contrasting black roof. It rides on 19-inch rims as the standard and comes with optional electric doors (w/o door handles).

    Zeekr X

    The dimensions remain unchanged, with the EV measuring 4,450 mm in length, 1,836 mm in width, 1,572 mm in height, and featuring a 2,750 mm long wheelbase.

    In terms of technology, the 2025 Zeekr X benefits from the new OS 5.2 and HMI 3.0 interactive software system enhanced with over 30 re-optimized functions and over 100 minor adjustments. The latter features green wave control, a HUD map, a traffic light countdown, and a 3D immersive navigation map. The EV also gets a 5.7-litre on-vehicle refrigerator, which supports three temperature control modes - cooling, freezing, and heating.

    Zeekr X

    The minimalistic cabin can be configured in either four or five-seater layouts. It features a double-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an 8.8-inch rectangular instrument cluster, a slideable 14.6-inch infotainment unit, and a 24.3-inch head-up display. With the 5-seater model also comes a “magic centre console” housing a 7-litre storage area and a 50 W wireless charging pad.

    The EV offers intelligent driving capabilities with five cameras, five millimetre-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. The features include - adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, lane change assist, lane keep assist, remote smart parking assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, front/rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, door opening warning, and traffic sign recognition.

    As earlier, two drivetrain options are available for the electric SUV in China - single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD. The former churns out 268 hp of maximum power and 343 Nm of peak torque while the latter is tuned to deliver 428 PS and 543 Nm. Both setups are mated to the same 66 kWh battery, letting the EV run for up to 560 km on the CLTC cycle.

    The 2025 Zeekr X price begins at CNY 200,000 (RM 129,579) and goes up to CNY 220,000 (RM 142,530) in China.
