Lotus Emira teased ahead of debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed
KUALA LUMPUR: Lotus is preparing to launch the all-new Emira sports car on July 6, 2021, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, that’s just 5 days away. But, ahead of that, the automaker probably revealed one last teaser of the upcoming sports car on its social media account. Showcasing the car’s sleek exterior styling, the caption of the eight-second short video clip reads “Not just another sports car. The Other sports car.”
Visible in the teaser is the Emira’s low front fascia that carries shapely front fenders and large Y-spoke alloy wheels. We can also see the vertical headlights of the sports car along with their double LED daytime running lights. The car has a steeply rising shoulder line and a short nose which somehow drops a hint towards a mid-engine on board.
Last month, the automaker released some interior shots of the new Emira through a short video teaser that provided us a clear look at its steering wheel and the digital dash. The former is wrapped in Alcantara boasting an unusual hexagonal shape. It apparently showcased a yellow 12 o’clock band, two four-way controllers, a volume rocker, a voice control switch, and one more button, which is likely to be a control for the adaptive cruise. We can also see the brand’s logo in the centre of the wheel.
While details on the Lotus Emira are scarce at the moment, the sports car is likely to be the brand’s last petrol-powered sports car offering a range of options. The list might include a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit and an enhanced version of the supercharged 3.5-litre Toyota V6. For transmission, the former could be paired up with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox whereas the latter could get manual or automatic transmission choices.
The upcoming Emira is an important model for the brand as it bridges the gap between its outgoing models and the forthcoming Evija electric hypercar. For further details on it, stay tuned with us.
