Lotus Emeya EV bookings open in Malaysia; three variants on offer
KUALA LUMPUR: Lotus has started accepting bookings for its first electric hyper-GT, the Emeya, in Malaysia. First unveiled in last September, the EV combines the brand’s rich sports car heritage and the latest cutting-edge technologies, making it an ultimate grand tourer. Interested folks can book the Emeya EV by paying an amount of RM 5,000.

The Lotus Emeya is expected to hit the Malaysian showrooms by the end of 2024.The Lotus Emeya is offered in three variants in Malaysia - base Emeya, Emeya S, and Emeya R, with prices starting from RM 575,000 (on the road and without insurance).
The Emeya underpins the brand’s new Electric Premium Architecture, which is an enhanced version of Geely’s SEA platform from Geely. It measures 5139 mm in length, 2005 mm in width, and 1464 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3069 mm. The trunk is measured at 509 litres.
In terms of drivetrain, the base-spec and mid-spec versions are powered by a dual-motor setup churning out a maximum power of 612 PS and a peak torque of 710 Nm. It enables the vehicle to hit the century sprint in 4.15 seconds and clock an electronically-limited speed of 250 kmph.
The range-topping Emeya R, on the contrary, gets energy from more powerful electric motors generating a total output of 918 PS and 985 Nm of torque. This is touted to be one of the world’s quickest EVs accelerating from 0-100 kmph in less than 2.8 seconds.
As for the battery package, all trims carry a 102-kWh unit providing a range of up to 610 km on the WLTP cycle. The battery juices up from 10% to 80% SoC in less than 18 minutes with a 350kW DC fast charger.
The EV also comes equipped with five driving modes (Range, Tour, Sport, Individual, and Track), an electronically controlled air suspension system, and lightweight carbon ceramic brakes.
