Lotus Elise SE and Exige S Auto – launched in Malaysia, priced from RM255k & RM428k
Kuala Lumpur: The British car mogul of lightweight sports cars munificently unveiled its latest track weapons to Malaysia, the Elise Great Britain edition and Exige S Automatic. The former was launched earlier in collaboration with British High Commission of Malaysia and the latter is revealed now.
This extremely lightweight vehicle bends the needle on weight scale up to 924 Kg and according to sources, it will be produced in a limited numbers on demand. So, Lotus is taking complete care of the exclusivity regarding this masterpiece. Both the cars stands out in their own manner, but Great Britain Special Edition is uniquely integrated with Union Jack decals on the side which differentiates it from its brother.
This limited edition supercar is animated to life by a 1.8-litre four cylinder, DOHC Dual VVT-i block which is coupled with a charge cooled Magnuson Twin-Vortices series supercharger. This powerhouse under the bonnet gives the Schnell needed by the Elise to catapult it from standstill to 100Km/h in a meagre 4.6 s up to a top speed of 234 km/h.
This powertrain proffers a 217 bhp of power to Elise with a torque force of 250 Nm, which is tasked on roads by a six-speed manual transmission and a Bosch-sourced Electronic Differential Lock (EDL). The intelligent design and lightweight construction material manifests the engine and performance generating a judicious power-to-weight ratio of 240 hp per tonne.
Well, if this does not fulfil your desires to own a powerful beast and you want the car to task its transmission automatically, then Lotus Malaysia has got the right toy for you – the new Exige S Automatic, which as the name suggests, comes equipped with a six-speed automatic cog-box and F1 styled paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
This man-made marvel rumbles on behalf of its Toyota-sourced 3.5-litre DOHC V6 coupled with a Harrop’s Twin Vortices and roots-type supercharger whisking out a roaring 345 hp at 7,000 rpm and a torque force of 400 Nm at 4,500 rpm. These stats make one realize that the Exige S can sprint from 0-100 Km/h in just 3.9 seconds and continues to accent until it reaches an electronically limited top speed of 261 km/h (for the coupe and 233 km/h for the roadster). It also comes equipped with an indigenously produced electronic throttle control system.
Coming to the canvas, The Elise GREAT Britain can be painted in silver, yellow and white metallic colours while the Exige S is available in a minimal range of metallic and premium splashes of paint.
